A Message from Season 2 Champion Doctor Lulzington
by mjradmin on May.26, 2011, under The Shows
Upon reaching adulthood, Dr. Lulzington discovered that he had two gifts: the gift of gab, and the gift of a fine man booty. He used the latter to put himself through college (Hamburger University) and graduate school (Joe’s Totally Bitchin’ School Of Psychology). He used that and his other gift (the gift of gab) to advise the masses with his column.
Then, one day, he found his calling…music! When he was accepted to be part of MJRI2, he made his mark by adding layers of vocals to his music, influenced by what he calls a “Lulzington Cocktail”: LSD, Ketamine, and whore semen.
It was this cocktail that shoved the doctor in a new direction: song parodies. This helped him to stand out among better singers, leading him to the win. And now…the doctor is in…and out…and in again, to mentor YOU, the contestants of MJRI3.

MyndJack Radio Idol Raises Age Limit to 103!
by Myndrunner on May.18, 2011, under Mynd Ramblings
It was announced today that the executives at Freeloader Media, producers of MyndJack Radio Idol, have lifted the age cap for auditioning contestants from 99 to 103!!! That’s right, so any contestant born on or before May 26th 1908 is eligible to participate and could quite possibly become the NEXT MyndJack Radio Idol!

"I like oatmeal"
This is great news for auditioning contestant Herbert, who plans to audition in his bathrobe. “I like oatmeal,” said another senior contestant when she heard the news, “and I just [explicative] my pants again.”
Upon hearing the shocking announcement, auditioning contestant Montgomery C. Burns, who barely will make the age restriction (allegedly), simply replied “Excellent!”
This news could only mean that this season of MyndJack Radio Idol could be more epic than ever!
A Message from Professor Kast to the MJI contestants.
by Professor Kast on May.13, 2011, under The Shows

Do what you do, and do it good, play to your strengths and improve your weaknesses, and entertain me.
First of all, I’m honored and a little horrified that I was chosen to replace Alan as a judge this season, and I hope to do the show the justice it deserves. I’m no Alan, whether that’s a good or a bad thing remains to be seen, but I can guarantee that I will do my best to be fair to the contestants and not discriminate due to site affiliation or other things like that.
Ok, so who am I and why am I even qualified to be a judge on this thing? I am a founding member of Myndjack Radio along with Myndrunner and a former contestant of the first season of MJI. I have been playing music for 30 years and play a wide variety of instruments as well as sing. As such, I know good music when I hear it, and have a very wide range of musical tastes, ranging from classical to progressive metal and beyond.
Now, as far as what I’m looking for in the contestants, here’s the deal. Bring what you’ve got, and bring it good. What I mean by that is if you are a good singer, bring that to the table, if you’re a clever spoofer, then bring it. I don’t care WHAT you do, as long as you do it well. Play to what strengths you have, but don’t just rest on your strengths. I want to see the growth and development of each contestant, to see their best get better, and their worst improve.
Most of all, I want to be entertained. Like I said, I have a huge range of likes as far as music goes, but one thing they all have in common is they are all highly entertaining. Either they have epic musical skill, epic songwriting skill, epic performance ability, or a combination of all three attributes.
So, there you have it. That’s what I’m looking for. Do what you do, and do it good, play to your strengths and improve your weaknesses, and entertain me. Get that, and you’ll get my approval. Good luck to you all, and above all, have fun! If you have any questions or comments, hit me up at professorkast@myndjack.com
Professor Kast.
A Message from Judge Deb
by Deb on May.10, 2011, under The Shows
Welcome to MyndJack Radio Idol Season 3!

"I am looking to be entertained. Song choice is key." - Deb Della Terza
Keep in mind, I’d like to stay awake during this competition, so you must entertain me. I prefer fast, fun & kitschy songs.. but feel free to make your song submission(s) your own by adding or changing lyrics. I like parodies and I love anyone who takes a risk creatively….when it WORKS!
If you have any questions or need any assistance, please email me at Deb@AllDigitalRadio.com.
So, to sum up….DON’T BORE ME!!! KTHXBYE!
Love, Deb
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for MJR Idol Season 3
by mjradmin on May.09, 2011, under The Shows
These are some Frequently Asked Questions compiled and summarized from the last two seasons as well as some that Season 3 contestants have asked. Keep checking this FAQ for updates as we will continue to update this blog as new questions come up. If you have a question that is not covered in this post, please do not hesitate to email us at mjradio@alldigitalradio.com immediately for a quick and informative response. Good luck!
Is this contest for real?
Absolutely! We may not be as tightly wound as some other competitions in that our primary focus is for everyone to have fun, but yes, this is indeed a contest with a top prize. Yes, the voters will decide who stays and who goes, and the celebrity guest judges will definitely be people familiar to the music industry and typically the American Idol circles. Yes, the winner’s award (with playable CD) is beyond awesome.
YES YOU SHOULD BE EXCITED TO BE A PART OF THIS!!!
…but I take my singing career seriously!
Great! Then this will be a true test of your vocal chops and musical prowess, not to mention a huge opportunity to expose your talent to new fans, and maybe even add MJRI Champion to your resume. Above all else, the goal of this competition is to have fun!
…but I am a terrible singer!
Great! If you can be entertaining, then you have a definite shot. Sometimes horrible-yet-funny singers advance further than good-but-boring ones. Above all else, the goal of this competition is to have fun!
How will the voting work?
Once the 16 semi-finalists are selected, the voting rounds begin. Performance nights will be on Tuesday where voting will open to the public immediately after the conclusion of the show (11pm EST or 8pm PST). Voting will close by 2pm EST the following Wednesday. Voting will take place on the official MyndJack Radio Idol forum voting poll, which will be accessible to the public prior to performance night. On the Results show every Wednesday, the contestant with the least amount of votes will be eliminated from the competition.
How will the semi-finals be selected?
The judges from audition week will meet with the network producers and hand-pick the 16 contestants that they believe best deserve a shot at the MyndJack Radio Idol crown. Auditions will take place on four evenings, with a results show on June 8th, where the judges will announce the “SWEET” 16. The chosen contestants will receive further instructions for the next round of competition at the conclusion of that broadcast. There will be a list of alternates available should any of the 16 semi-finalists be unable to continue in the competition.
This is LIVE radio, so will I be singing (gasp) LIVE?!
The shows will be LIVE, including the judges responses, but your performance packages will be played from the pre-recorded packages that you send to us by the deadline. Once you have sent in your performance, sit back and relax….at least until Deb or Kast rip your performance to shreds of course. Why not come kick it with us in the MyndJack Radio Chatroom during the show? That’s a great way to not only build up a rapport with other contestants, but also could help you add fans to your already growing fanbase. You can even respond explicitly to the judges reactions, but be kind to each other.
How will I submit my performances each week, should I advance to the semi-finals?
Each week, email your performance packages to mjradio@alldigitalradio.com by Midnight PST Sunday evening. Packages should include your individual performance, bonus interview responses, group number vocals, and anything else asked for that week. Yes, there will be group numbers and yes they will be awesome! If you are struggling with the deadline, be sure to communicate with us immediately to avoid disqualification and we are always available to help.
What do I need to record my performance packages?
In most cases, a regular microphone and some form of recording software is enough, as long as the file you send is in MP3 format. We can convert WAV formats, but they tend to eat up a lot of memory so avoid them at all costs. If you need backup music added to your performance, by all means reach out.
What if I need help with my song?
Our Music Director, Major Manny Riva, is always available to help spruce up your performance to make it sound best for radio play. He will also be taking point on all of the group performances, with Myndrunner as back up. If you have a technical question or just need some assistance with your performance, make sure you email us at mjradio@alldigitalradio.com and we will respond almost immediately. Also, four of last season’s top 5 will be available as mentors to assist you in anything you need.
Who are the mentors and what can or cannot they do?
Four of last season’s Top 5 contestants will be available as mentors to help guide each contestant through the rigors of this competition. Each of them have an expertise in one area or another and can share their success tips with you if you wish. They are:
Doctor Lulzington (Season 2 Champ) – DrLulz@myndjack.com
Chaz Timmer – ChazzTimmer@myndjack.com
Griff Heartfield – GriffH@myndjack.com
The Artist known as TJ – TJ@myndjack.com
They will be able to help you as they are able; however, they are participating in this on a purely volunteer basis so please use discretion and have patience if they do not respond immediately. The only requirement is that your performance be your voice in the legal sense and that you perform only one of the approved songs for that week.
Mentors cannot sing for you. Sure, they can add their own backup vocals to your performance, but the lead singing must be your own voice (at least in the legal sense).
Do I need to have a mentor?
Nope, not at all. It’s recommended if you need help, but if you got this on your own, don’t worry about it.
I want to add music to my vocal track, but I don’t have the equipment/ability/willingness, who can help me?
Any of the Mentors can point you in the right direction, or Manny Riva and Myndrunner can help as well.
What if I miss the LIVE broadcast?
Podcasts of every show are archived on alldigitalradio.com so if you missed a show, you can catch it there. If you missed a results night, check your email. If you made it to the next round, you likely will have the next week’s instructions waiting for you.
What if an emergency has come up and I can no longer compete?
This has happened before, but no worries. Life hands us all some lemons and it’s up to us to make orange juice. We are very flexible on an individual basis as far as the deadline, just make sure you keep us in the loop; however, if you don’t think you can continue, let us know as soon as possible.
