At last the AotW is back. Taking the honors this week is Fighting With Wire, a band out of Northern Ireland that I caught during in SXSW last month. These guys stood out with the best acts, in a very crowded field, that I saw. The band was great live, really packing a punch and [...] Due to my head spinning with scheduling for SXSW here in Austin, I do not have time to fairly determine an artist of the week. Will have a selection by next week though! Have a feeling I will see a lot of bands at SXSW that I will be writing about and featuring on here. So [...] The Boxer Rebellion In case you haven’t heard them yet, this week’s Artist of the week is The Boxer Rebellion, from London. With their release Union chosen as I-Tune’s Best Alternative Album of the Year in 2009, this band is really making huge waves as an unsigned act. I can’t imagine some label doesn’t pick them [...] MIDNIGHT YOUTH. These New Zealand rockers have caught my ear in a big way. There is something fresh and exciting about their music. It is the perfect mix of alternative rock and pop. Think along the lines as if bands like Maroon 5 got together with Snow Patrol and 30 Seconds to Mars and made [...] Get ready for some ear pleasing, Goth-Metal from Germany this week, as Xandria is our Artist of the week. This German band cranks out hard-hitting metal without a doubt. With layers of thick, heavy guitar riffs blended behind beautiful, yet haunting vocals, Xandria bares a resemblance to Evanescence or Within Temptation, but is still has [...] Sorry, there will be no new selection this week. Life and a hectic schedule has kept me from the site this week, and at this point I would not want to cut an artist’s time short by selecting them too late in the week. Next Monday though….be ready for a new artist! Feel the excitement! In [...] The Farstar, a rock band out of Dallas, Texas that you really need to take a listen to, gets the honors this week since I’ve been listening to their EP, Strange Kids, so much. Among the qualities I like most about this band is their original way of writing songs. The lyrics are always interesting, [...] Anarbor, out of Pheonix, Az, are the new Artist of the Week. Made up of High School and long time friends, the band has cultivated a nice pop rock/punk sound, with catchy choruses and clean, heavy guitar riffs. Perhaps you could compare them to bands like Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy, and The All American [...] The band Verity in Stereo (formerly known as Hip Like Blank) hails from New Jersey/NY and in my belief should be big this year.
