So I am off to SXSW for a variety of reasons…mixing business with pleasure; yes that’s okay! Finding it very difficult to narrow down all the showcases and parties I wish to attend. With nearly 2,000 bands performing at about 90 different venues it’s a tough call. And that’s just the “official” SXSW. There is also [...] So I was clicking through the list of the 100 Best Songs of the Decade on Rolling Stone’s website today, and I found myself going “are you kidding me?” far too many times. Now I will start by saying the list is not complete crap, but it doesn’t come all that far from attaining that [...] As a musician one of the things I HATE is when someone asks me what my influences are. How can I give a list that doesn’t go on for pages and pages? Can’t I just say, all the music that came before me and that is being created as we speak? I’m influenced by Doo [...] So a lot has changed over the last decade in music, and I find myself pondering on whether or not I think all of the changes are good. Not unlike when the changes from LPs to eight-tracks, to cassettes and then to CDs, came about, there are those that claim the advance in technology is great, and there are those that will be quick to point out what is wrong with it and why it’s a bad day for music as a whole. I find myself creating a list in my head of the pros and cons of all this advancing technology and have decided to share it. I ended up even surprising myself, and have found that my own thoughts on the matter have, in fact, progressed over the years as well. So Kings of Leon and Green Day are big winners at MTVu Woodie Awards, the awards for college radio. Did MTV get this all wrong? Siobhan Ozege at CHARTattack sure thinks so. Check out Siobhan’s article and see what you think. I tend to agree. Tuneage aims to broaden your musical horizons, be it brand new music or music that’s forty years old.
